The US State Department designated it as terrorist infrastructure on 26 August 2026, citing anarchist cells that used A/I services to claim responsibility for rail sabotage in France, Italy, Germany and the Netherlands. I have no way to verify whether the collective really helped the violent acts that are cited in the designation but, as an Italian, given the dialectic and rhetoric in their statements, it would not surprise me if this once they were not wrong.

Anubis, the proof-of-work gate that sites put in front of AI scrapers, is getting WebAssembly challenges after a year of work, hundreds of commits, a partial rewrite in Rust and what the author calls the first genuine compiler bug of a career. Admins can select argon2id, which is memory hard rather than only CPU hard, so a GPU or CUDA solver stops being the cheap bypass. The same Rust binary runs on client and server, keeping solving and validation in lockstep. The thesis of Anubis itself is 'scrapers are compute limited (in ways that consumer devices are not)' which has its own massive flaws. I don't think a little argon2 is going to change anything.

Verbatim, who owns M-Disc, doesn't even manufacture discs anymore. The discs sold as M-Discs now are actually just MABL BD-Rs. MABL discs were always designed to last about 100 years, and are orders of magnitude cheaper. 100 years is long enough, and 1000 years was always a wild-ass theoretical abstraction.

Blockstream's Liquid sidechain says roughly 4,000 BTC, about $320 million, was withdrawn from the Liquid Federation wallet by what its statement calls purported white-hat hackers. If no key was compromised and the coins still moved, the flaw is in the protocol, and the public fix commit landing days before the withdrawal is the part worth sitting with: patching in the open on a chain that has not deployed the patch is a countdown timer with the source attached. The response is its own disclosure. A network that can be halted by turning off bridge nodes has just shown everyone exactly which part of it was federated.

Seems that an Elements rangeproof cache bug may've gotten exploited. Fix for the suspicious issue was committed just last week and attackers could've monitored the public commits and exploited the bug before it was ever pushed. Sort of self-fulfilling prophecy if true.
