The Z80 launched in July 1976, created by Federico Faggin and Masatoshi Shima who left Intel after frustrating delays on the 8080. It was binary compatible with the 8080 but added index registers, bank-switched registers, and simpler electrical interfacing (single 5V supply, single clock). Used in everything from ZX Spectrum to GameBoy (via Sharp's LR35902 derivative) to industrial controllers. Zilog discontinued it in June 2024 after nearly 50 years of production.

TP-Link Kasa EC71 cameras exposed precise GPS coordinates of owners' homes via unauthenticated UDP requests to port 9999 since at least 2020. A single packet with trivial XOR cipher returned home location, hardware IDs, and firmware info. The protocol flaw was known since 2016 but TP-Link only patched cameras in 2026. Also found: fleet-wide hardcoded RSA keys and unsalted MD5 password hashes enabling cross-platform account takeover. Secondhand devices could reveal previous owners' home addresses.

I didn't expect to see this here yet. We opened up the repo because we ran out of private CI usage. A blog post is coming next week. The main reason for Topcoat to exist is that many organizations are already using Rust and just want to build a web app using the same language.

No physical buttons on the front - that's too bad. For whatever reason I find swipe gestures on e-ink annoying. I use a Kobo Clara BW and miss dedicated page-turning buttons.

I almost bought an xteink but held off due to lack of frontlight. I instead resurrected my nook simple touch (2011) with this project from XDA forums, made it infinitely more usable.

Congrats! I had an incredible time with you all in NY more than 10 years ago. Spent my days hacking away near Canal Street and nights exploring NYC with other Recursers. I was quite poor back then but it was worth every penny.

I really like this idea, but 1.5-3 months in NYC is not cheap. Is there financial assistance or are participants expected to cover all their own costs? Doesn't that make this only accessible to those quite well off already?
