This still has to pass with the people in a referendum. The discourse on nuclear is still quite chaotic in politics in Switzerland. All left leaning parties and greens parties are strongly against nuclear.

I've always used ZFS because it's vastly superior to other options. When I see storage companies building without fault tolerance, or without a merkle tree, it's a sign their marketing team has more influence than their engineers.

The section on dynamic compilers is more or less all about trace compilation. Generally, trace compilation is a dead end and has been abandoned repeatedly. The more important concepts here are type feedback and speculation and deoptimization.

I'm a bit confused about what makes this course 'advanced.' Most of the topics (dead code elimination, data flow, dominator analysis, SSA form) seem like they belong in a first course on compilers.

There are three ways to ignore files in Git: .gitignore (tracked, shared), .git/info/exclude (per-repo, not tracked), and ~/.config/git/ignore (global, machine-level). Use 'git check-ignore -v <file>' to see which file is ignoring something. Global ignore is great for .DS_Store, IDE files, etc.

The global/user wide exclude is a feature that should be more widely known. I frequently have people submitting changes to add their IDE/OS/AI files to every project's .gitignore. They are almost always pleasantly surprised when I tell them they can add them to their standard configuration.

~/.config/git/ignore and ~/.config/git/config is the proper place for your global git config and ignore instead of creating a ~/.gitignore_global and changing the config. My dotfiles are a lot smaller at the root level taking advantage of ~/.config/.

Not sure where I picked this up, but I've added this to my global Git ignore: attic. That way you can just create an attic directory in any project where you can keep random stuff that should never be committed.
