A very nicely written article. The overall premise is spot on: while it's a shame that the drugs failed, it's okay, because we want companies to be taking bets on targets that might result in the next big drug to save or prolong lives.

As someone who worked for years in commercial print, I recall the workflows the article discusses as being more automate-able than the author seems to understand. The appropriate way to use an external document as source file is to link it, not copy it.
