After 10 years of trusting Backblaze, the author discovered it silently stopped backing up OneDrive, Dropbox, and .git folders. The change was buried in release notes under 'Improvements' with no user notification. Sync services aren't backup since they only keep deleted files for 30 days. Backblaze's promise of 'unlimited, all user data' is now quietly broken.

The company built its reputation on 'we back up everything' and then decided 'everything except the stuff you actually care about' was close enough. Burying this in release notes is peak corporate cowardice.

Japan's rail dominance (28% of passenger-km vs US's 0.25%) isn't cultural - it's policy. Private railways were allowed to develop land and run side businesses, capturing the value they create. Liberal zoning enables density around stations. Cars pay their true costs via privatized parking and road tolls. JNR's successful privatization in 1988 created competing profitable companies.

I-DLM is the first diffusion language model to match autoregressive quality at the same scale. The key insight: AR models verify what they generate in the same forward pass, but diffusion models don't. I-DLM fixes this with 'introspective strided decoding' - generating N new tokens while verifying prior ones. Result: matches Qwen3-8B quality with 2.9-4.1x throughput at high concurrency.

The author argues that multi-agent AI coding is fundamentally a distributed consensus problem. FLP theorem says you can't have safety, liveness, AND fault tolerance. Byzantine Generals says if more than 1/3 of agents 'misinterpret' the prompt, consensus is impossible. These are mathematical bounds that won't go away with smarter models - AGI can't escape distributed systems theory.
