SCOTUS ruled 7-2 that Cox Communications isn't liable for users' copyright infringement just because it kept providing internet to known pirates. The court rejected Sony's billion-dollar verdict, holding that merely knowing a service will be used to infringe isn't enough - you need to actively induce infringement or tailor your service for it. Justice Thomas cited the Betamax case: your VCR maker isn't liable just because some people pirate movies.

Security researcher wanted to participate in Tesla's bug bounty, so he pieced together a working Model 3 computer from salvaged crash parts for ~$500. He bought the MCU ($200-300), screen ($175), power supply, and a monstrous $80 dashboard wiring harness after discovering the proprietary Rosenberger display cable doesn't exist as a standalone part. A developer filed a network privacy bug (FB12088655) in March 2023 and heard absolutely nothing for three years. Then Apple randomly asked him to verify it still exists on macOS 26.4 beta 4, threatening to close the report if he didn't respond within two weeks. He reached out to Little Snitch devs who confirmed the bug wasn't fixed. Apple apparently sent him on a wild goose chase demanding verification of a bug they did nothing to fix.
