On September 9 Automattic's board put founder Matt Mullenweg on paid leave and named CFO Mark Davies interim CEO. Mullenweg did not go. On September 11 he removed the other admins from the company Slack and told staff he was back in control, posting that he is 'a pirate now'. On September 12 Automattic confirmed he is chairman and CEO with the board's full support. The board never said why it acted, board member Toni Schneider reportedly stepped down, and when TechCrunch asked Mullenweg for an explanation he published a post about buying a houseboat.

Signal's long-running community thread has turned into commit-watching. Recent commits add the ability to register a numberless account and to log into one, with zero-knowledge proofs used so the server can validate things like username format without learning the contents. A separate commit, 'Add ability to pay for a signal login', points to paid registration as the anti-spam gate for accounts with no phone number attached, with SMS verification staying as the free path. The same release cycle makes SIM-less Android tablets first-class linked devices. The work is in beta, and the thread's open questions are whether existing accounts can detach their number and what traces remain server-side if they do.

If you have ever calipered a phone to model a case or a mount, precise vendor dimensions save days. The obvious gap is that PDFs are not CAD: you still trace the drawing to get a solid model.

Es lo más útil que el sitio para desarrolladores de Apple ha añadido este año y salió sin anuncio alguno. Si alguna vez has medido un teléfono con calibre para modelar una funda o un soporte, tener las dimensiones exactas del fabricante ahorra días. La carencia evidente es que un PDF no es CAD: sigues teniendo que calcar el plano para obtener un modelo sólido.

I wish overhead cutaway and side scale drawings of all cars existed, so you could compare vehicles directly. You would think the NTSB would need that information and that it would be freely available.

Ich wünschte, es gäbe von allen Autos Draufsichten mit Innenraumaufteilung und maßstäbliche Seitenansichten, damit man Fahrzeuge direkt vergleichen kann. Man sollte meinen, die NTSB brauche solche Angaben und sie wären deshalb frei verfügbar.
