When you pass C# strings to Dapper, they're mapped to nvarchar(4000) by default. If your column is varchar, SQL Server converts EVERY ROW to compare, turning index seeks into full scans. Fix: use DbType.AnsiString or DbString with IsAnsi=true. The author's production app was burning 50%+ CPU on one query because of this two-character type mismatch.
AnsiString。
AnsiString verwenden.

This bug has been silently ruining performance in .NET apps since Dapper became popular, and I guarantee half the codebases reading this have it right now. The article's advice to add defensive comments is good because some 'helpful' dev will 'clean up' your DynamicParameters back to anonymous objects during a refactor.

This really doesn't have anything to do with C#. This is your classic nvarchar vs varchar issue. I'm not sure why anyone would choose varchar for a column in 2026.

It's weird that the article does not show any benchmarks but crappy descriptions like 'milliseconds to microseconds'. This is the kind of vague performance description LLMs like to give.

After years of every Go server importing github.com/google/uuid, the Go team is finally adding crypto/uuid to stdlib. The proposal is in final comment period. It'll support UUID v3, v4, v5, v7 with Parse, String, and cryptographically secure random generation. Go joins C#, Java, JavaScript, Python, and Ruby in having built-in UUID support.

A meditation on weapons inventors and their regrets. Gatling thought his gun would make war too terrible for large armies. The German rocket club VfR dreamed of space travel before being absorbed into the V-2 program. Santos-Dumont hoped planes would keep European violence from reaching the Americas, then watched them bomb in WWI. Nobel believed dynamite was too weak, and wanted weapons so terrible they'd make war impossible. Szilard tried to stop the atomic bomb's use. The pattern: build something powerful, hope it prevents war, watch it enable worse violence.

The article doesn't tell you what to conclude, which is refreshing. But the unstated implication is pretty clear: every generation of technologists believes their creation will be too terrible for war, and every generation is wrong. They said 'short duration' not 'short term'. The beauty of MBS floaters is you're relatively insensitive to prepayments. From an investor standpoint you're making SOFR + 1.5%. That's not sexy. But lever it up 20x and now you're making SOFR+30%, which is very sexy. But also 2008.
